Request for Proposals: Videographer

Oregon Humanities is accepting proposals from video producers to create a 3-4 minute video that showcases Oregon Humanities’ work and impacts across the state. We hope to have this project completed by August 30, 2025. The budget for this project is $6,000.

Oregon Humanities connects people and communities through conversation, storytelling, and participatory programs to inspire understanding and collaborative change. Each year, we offer hundreds of public conversations and programs across the state, train and support dozens of discussion facilitators, and award grants and fellowships that help people connect, reflect, and cultivate a stronger sense of agency in their communities.

Using interviews and program footage recorded for this project, the video will illustrate our core activities—including our conversation programs, facilitation training, and grant-making—while emphasizing their impacts on individuals and communities statewide. The video should address three key questions: What is Oregon Humanities? (an organization that creates spaces for Oregonians to think, talk, and reflect); What does it do? (facilitates conversations, supports community-led programs, shares diverse stories, and builds connections across difference); and Why is it important? (strengthens community bonds, promotes understanding across divides, and helps Oregonians imagine and create a more just future together).

Final deliverables will include the main video plus 1-2 shorter versions optimized for social media formatting and email campaigns. The videos will serve multiple functions including donor cultivation and stewardship, general awareness, and promotion, and will be used on the Oregon Humanities website, social media channels, email communications, and at in-person events.

Budget

The total budget for this project is $6,000. Oregon Humanities staff will work with the videographer to schedule interviews and B-roll opportunities. We tentatively anticipate shooting to take place in two locations—Portland and Bend—with one day in each.

Timeline

We’ll review proposals beginning February 28, 2025.

We expect to select a contractor by the end of March, with production taking place in June and July. Final files must be completed by August 30, 2025

Here is an example of a similar video produced in 2019. We do not expect new videos to follow the same format.

If you’re interested in working with us on this project, please send a proposal containing the following to k.briski@oregonhumanities.org:

  • How you would approach the project, including conducting interviews and editing

  • A projected cost and time for completing the project

  • A sample of past work showing one or more edited interviews
