Theater, documentaries, historic exhibits, lectures, and tours will explore the history and legacy of Vanport.
May 26, 2017 | to May 29, 2017
The four-day Vanport Mosaic Festival will explore the history and legacy of Vanport, which was once Oregon’s second largest city and was wiped out by a flood in 1948. Theater, documentaries, historic exhibits, lectures, and tours will focus on this year’s theme of home, housing, displacement, and migration. Several of the events will consider the rippling effects of gentrification on affordable housing and how unresolved issues with race-based displacement are addressed today. Read more. Oregon Humanities is a cosponsor of this event.
