Oregon Humanities is requesting story proposals from early-career, Oregon-based journalists as part of a new fellowship offered in partnership with the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and the Pulitzer Prizes. Three emerging journalists will be selected for work to be completed by fall 2018 for publication in winter 2019. Each fellow will work with a mentor who is a Pulitzer winner or finalist. The stories will be published through Oregon Humanities media platforms, and the fellowships will culminate in an event that showcases fellows’ work and provides an opportunity for public discussion of their work in the context of journalism and democracy.
