Amidst devastating wildfires, a global pandemic, and a rapidly changing world, young people across the planet have stepped up to lead in the movement for climate, racial, and social justice.  In this workshop, high school organizers Adah Crandall and Danny Cage will offer dialogue and case studies from their involvement in youth-led projects and campaigns: the good, the bad, and the somewhere-in-between. This workshop will invite participants to join in a conversation about collaborative organizing and to imagine the possibilities for a powerful, multigenerational social movement—one that cultivates adult allyship, supports youth, and makes space for youth voices. 

Adah Crandall is an organizer with Sunrise Movement PDX's Youth Vs. ODOT campaign and the co-lead of Portland Youth Climate Strike. Her advocacy centers around the intersection of transportation and climate justice, pushing for transportation solutions that will reduce emissions and better serve the needs of young people across the region. 

Danny Cage is a speaker and youth organizer advocating for racial justice, education reform, and LGBTQ+ rights. Starting his activism at an early age by attending protests and rallies, his goal is to build political engagement within the Portland metropolitan area and across Oregon. He also served as the student representative to the PPS board of education policy committee and is on the facilities and operations committee. While serving on the policy committee for Portland Public School he helped work on the CCRP (climate crisis response policy) which is the district's aggressive climate policy. In 2022 he was appointed by Governor Kate Brown to serve on Oregon’s Environmental Justice Council as a youth representative to advise natural resources agencies on environmental justice issues affecting vulnerable populations.
